Build on Vibe wasn't born in a pitch deck. It started as a conversation about focus, burnout, and the mess AI makes of half-built projects. Here's the whole timeline — the naming session, the first sketches, the long quiet middle, and the three-day launch.
Founder Usman Jatoi opens a working group to brainstorm a product for people building with AI. The core problem is named on day one: AI makes starting easy, but staying focused and actually shipping is hard. Naming session runs through a dozen candidates — buildwithvibecoding.com, dovibecoding.com, buildwithaicoders.com, donewithvibe.com — before landing on the short one that stuck: Build on Vibe.
The domain is purchased and the working name becomes official. First business model is written down the same day: a simple $5/month subscription with up to 3 active projects and unlimited drafts and archived projects — pricing built to keep hobbyists in, not price them out.
The founding UI concepts are sketched and shared: a Focus Mode timer that locks a project after your chosen session, a sequential 'Main Topic → Functions → Implementation → Integration → Bug Fixes → CRO → SEO → Optimization → Security' project flow, a Trash page for accidental deletes, and clean auth screens. The orange clock mark you still see on the site today is born here.
The project goes head-down for several months. A lot of that time is spent studying how vibe coders actually work — what breaks their focus, which prompts work, which tools they abandon after a week — and rewriting the plan more than once. No shipping in public. Just sharpening the concept.
After the long quiet, the founder commits to a rebuild-in-public sprint on Lovable. Three days, one developer, one focused push — and buildonvibe.site goes live on a fresh $4 domain (the .com is still parked at 26k, so we're waiting that one out). The launch stack is everything we'd been designing for a year: sequential locked project tabs, Focus Mode, prompt packs, competitor and idea research, and a marketing surface built for AI-first search.
Since launch we've shipped weekly: competitor research, idea validation, site intelligence, roadmap voting, programmatic SEO, Google sign-in, a product tour, and dozens of quieter improvements. The public changelog and roadmap are the honest log of every one — nothing hidden, nothing backdated.
